Under general supervision, the Coordinator of Economic Development I is responsible for managing a portfolio of policy issues surrounding neighborhood development, programs that provide resources and assistance needed to expand, retain, or relocate business or cultural operations in the City of Chicago, and performs related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Coordinates the review and approval process for the Department’s various incentives programs and legislative milestones. This includes acting as the first point-of-contact for submissions, monitoring critical milestones to ensure the review process is completed on schedule, developing materials and processes that improve the overall efficacy of the review, and make recommendations to managemen
Collects, analyzes, and participates in various studies identifying recommendations regarding the land use, zoning, social, and economic development impact of proposed developments.
Identifies funding opportunities and sites for proposed development or expansion projects.
Coordinates planning efforts between department bureaus, City departments, community organizations, sister governmental agencies, and developers for the purpose of implementing project work plans
Represents the department at internal and public meetings to discuss proposed planning and redevelopment projects and their potential benefits and impact on the community.
Conducts specific research and analysis on elements of projects, initiatives, programs or policies that advance Department initiatives. These projects may also include strategic planning efforts, development of briefing materials, and best practice recommendations for senior leadership’s consideration.
Support the Department as it advances specific projects through the various internal review and legislative processes including conducting specific research and analysis on elements of projects that may be unique or require more due diligence than is typical and providing support during legislative process.
Identify and implement operational improvements to the Department’s project review process, project database management, and standard operating procedures in order to improve the efficacy and efficiency of the Department's work.
